The heart of a two year old

With Daniel gone in DC (heard from him a while ago, by the way, and he is content with how today went and feeling good about going in tomorrow), Lucas and I have been having our own adventures at home.  Today was a good, good day.  Sunny and warm, we got errands done in the morning and went for a walk to the playground after nap time.  We made homemade pizza for supper, had a bath, and now are indulging in our weeknight ritual of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy before bed.

The conversation we had over dinner made me laugh, though, so I just have to share it quickly:

Lucas:  Mama, we can't find God.
Me:  Oh, no?
Lucas: No.  We can't find him.
Me: (Thinking I should take advantage of this teachable moment) Well, someday when we get to Heaven we will find him.  If we believe in Jesus, he will forgive our sins and take us to find God in Heaven when we die.
Lucas: And then we'll find the red-eyed tree frogs, too.  And the lizards.
Me:  (shaking my head, chuckling, and knowing that totally went over his head) Maybe there will be tree frogs in Heaven.  I guess we'll have to wait and see.
